Starting from Sarajevo we are going to visit the beautiful and artificial Rama Lake which is located in the upper Rama valley on the north of Herzegovina, in today’s Prozor-Rama municipality. It was formed in 1968. The island Šćit, connected with the shore by a causeway, really makes this lake pretty. Besides Šćit, there are also two smaller islands, Umac and Škarine, which additionally break up the uniformity of the water surface and beautify the ambience of the lake and its surroundings. The lake is of a semicircular shape, with a lot of bays, and the slight coastal drop makes it accessible from almost every end.

The area is lush and green and offers great fishing, boating, walking and hiking. Also, you will have an interesting look at village life in the surrounding hills. The local villagers are very kind and you will find fascinating villages where women still dress in traditional attire and practice the ancient ritual of tattooing crosses on their hands, arms and even foreheads.
