On Balkan Pilgrimage tour we will visit Zagreb, capital of Croatia with its famous national parks and charming coastal towns. Discover Bosnia and Herzegovina and amazing capital Sarajevo, admire the renowned bridge of Mostar, say a prayer at Medjugorje, and discover the beauty of Slovenia.


Itinerary:

DAY 1: Ljubljana (SI)

Balkan pilgrimage tour starts from Ljubljana or we can arrange it by your needs. Arrival to Ljubljana,accommodation and tour of Ljubljana city. Stroll along the vibrant banks of the beautiful Ljubljanica River and discover the Old Town. See beautiful small alleys with Baroque, Renaissance, and Art Nouveau buildings. Explore the main sights in Ljubljana including Congress Square, the National University Library, Križanke Monastery, the New Square, and Cobbler’s Bridge. Visit the main square with the Prešeren monument, Franciscan Church, and Three Bridges. Explore the Old Square, the river promenade, the Municipality Square, St. Nicholas Cathedral, and much more.

Overnight: Ljubljana.

DAY 2: Ljubljana city tour, Transfer to Postojna (SI)

Ride to town of Postojna. Discover Postojna Cave, second-longest cave system in the country.

Overnight: Postojna.

DAY 3: Postojna (SI), Zagreb (CRO)

After morning breakfast we will to go to city of Zagreb. Arrival, accommodation and Zagreb city tour. Learn about 2 neighboring hills. Gradec and Kaptol Discover the city’s main attractions and explore landmarks including the Cathedral, St Mark’s Church, and Lotrscak Tower, and enjoy an included ride on the historic city funicular.

Overnight: Zagreb

DAY 4: Zagreb (CRO), Plitvice (CRO), Split (CRO)

Early morning ride to Plitvice lakes National Park. It is forest reserve in central Croatia known for a chain of 16 terraced lakes, joined by waterfalls, that extend into a limestone canyon. This park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage register in 1979 due to its breathtaking views. After Plitvice lakes we will ride to city of Split. Arrival and accommodation.

Overnight: Split

DAY 5: Split (CRO), Dubrovnik (CRO), Medjugorje (BIH)

After breakfast we will go for Split city tour. Explore UNESCO protected Diocletian Palace and its main pedestrian area of famous “Splitska Riva”. Learn about Split’s fascinating culture and history. See the churches, cathedrals, city walls, gatestand bustling squares. Ride to city of Dubrovnik and go for Dubrovnik city tour. Walk on Dubrovnik city walls (from 16th century) and see from there the ocean, the old red rooftop homes, the fortress and much more. Experience the heart of the city of Dubrovnik by walking the Stradun, center of the city and also visit additional museums, churches, monasteries, and synagogues. Finally, we will go to city of Medjugorje, very important part of Balkan pilgrimage package. Arrival and accommodation.

DAY 6: Medjugorje, Kravice, Pocitelj, Blagaj, Mostar, Sarajevo (BIH)

Early morning Medjugorje tour. It is believed that the Virgin Mary has been appearing to the Medjugorje visionaries since 1981. We will take you to the Apparition Hill which is specific for the spiritual peace which it provides. If you’re lucky you might even see one of the visionaries having an apparition or sharing a message from Mother of God. Medjugorje is a unique religious experience for all Catholics and the ideal destination to grow one’s faith and find inner peace with God. Continue to Kravice waterfall and enjoy magical experience of nature with vivid green landscape, sparkling water particles and fairy tale like mist above the valley. Discover the medieval town of Pocitelj, the oldest town of Herzegovina. Visit the village of Blagaj, located on the spring of the river Buna and see the beautiful historical Tekke, which is a national monument. Visit the Mostar’s Old Bridge above stunning river Neretva, take a walk around Mostar streets and see old part of Mostar with medieval structures and traditional Ottoman monuments and buildings. Ride to city of Sarajevo.

DAY 7: Sarajevo, Fojnica (BIH), Departure

Discover city of Sarajevo. Meet the lively and turbulent history of the Sarajevo city, learn about the cultural traditions, society and get a close-up look at the rich architecture. Explore the old town Bascarsija. Ride with Sarajevo Cable car, and expirience the nine-minute, 2km gondola ride over the city of Sarajevo and arrive on Trebević’s plateau. Rest at the Sunnyland – a unique amusement park for children and adults. Go to city of Fojnica and visit Franciscan monastery of the Holy Spirit. The monastery’s museum collections holds the 15th century Ahd-Namah (the Order) of Sultan Mehmed II the Conqueror guaranteeing security and freedom to the Franciscans. This document allowed the Franciscans of the day to preach freely among the Catholics in BiH, which in turn enabled the preservation of Bosnian Catholicism through the centuries. Drop off to airport
